Takelma Language Units
FAMILY LANGUAGE LESSONS
Classes are happening NOW! Family Classes are happening online, at the Gov. Office, and at the Tribal Community Center. To attend these classes, no prior language experience is required, and all ages are welcome. Family Language Classes are held twice a month.

Travel Vocabulary
Download, Print and Fold this booklet to take with you on your travels. This booklet holds vocabulary you can use to ask things like "Are we there yet?" and "I am hungry." but in Takelma, so its less annoying.
Family Members
Learn Takelma Family Members, from Maternal Grandmother to Child!
Food Adjectives
Learn Takelma words used to describe food. This lesson includes words like mushy, tasty, and the sentence "I am hungry!"
Takelma Sounds
Learn Takelma sounds using the PDF sound chart, and the video lesson. This lesson reads through all the sounds so you can begin to use them to speak Takelma!
Síim (Animals)
Learn Takelma Animals! This lesson focuses on the 8 Takelma animal words, with some bonus sentences to start talking about them. Using the video, e-book, and PDF, you will be able to hear, say and read the words.
Places
Learn Takelma Places! This lesson focuses on 7 locations that are significant to the Cow Creek People.
Colors
Learn the colors in the Takelma language. This lesson follows the Coyote and Fox story, 12 colors, and the question "Which color is it?".
Numbers
Learn how to count from 1 to 10 in Takelma, while following along with the steps to build a plankhouse. This lesson follows the retelling of the traditional way to build a plankhouse, as well as how to could with your hands in the way of the Takelma people.
